Building on Experience

 
Cloud was already managing the packaging of the individual chili seasoning pouches before sending them to a third party for final assembly. By working with the customer and combining its product familiarity with its secondary contract packaging expertise, an alternative custom packaging solution was developed. The customer converted all finished products to a chipboard display carton capable of standing up on shelves and in end-of-aisle displays.
 

Streamlining Production

 
The Cloud secondary packaging team first located a used ADCO Vertical Cartoner capable of erecting, filing and gluing the carton shut. Once purchased, Cloud customized the machine to suit the application. Engineers resized and retooled the cartoner and fabricated a tilt-tray bucket infeed. In addition, Cloud worked closely with the customer to develop custom packaging design solutions. In less than four months, the packaging line was up and running.
 

One-Stop Shop

 
Today, Cloud does both the primary and secondary contract packaging for the customer. Cloud kept packaging costs down and delivered more efficient assembly. Cloud was able to reduce the supply chain, by providing the client with the finished case, eliminating the need to manage another supplier and reducing overall costs. And finally, the new finished carton’s consistent display opened up new marketing possibilities, while preserving the company’s brand identity.
